M-CMS Bands Earn Highest Honors at NWNMMEA Large Group Festival
On Wednesday, March 4th, members of the M-CMS Concert Band and Symphonic Band performed at the Northwest New Mexico Music Educators Association Large Group Evaluation. The Symphonic Band earned straight "superior" ratings from the judges on their prepared music, and the Concert Band earned an "excellent" rating. Both groups earned "superior" ratings in sight reading - a portion of the performance where each group has to play an unknown piece for the first time in front of a judge to receive a rating. We are very proud of our M-CMS bands for representing Cortez with excellence!

Dallas Brass In Cortez
On Wednesday, February 8th, Cortez was proud to host the Dallas Brass. Cortez band students had the opportunity to rehearse, attend masterclasses, and perform a concert with the world famous Dallas Brass. This event was a huge success, and the Cortez Band program would like to thank the Southwest Colorado Concert Series for providing our students with this incredible opportunity!
